What’s Going On?
Yahoo Finance has added three of the world’s biggest cryptocurrencies to its trading platform, giving investors the ability to buy and sell digital assets from their smartphone with one of the world’s most recognised web brands.
Why Does It Matter?
Investors can now buy and sell bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin on Yahoo’s platform, reported Hacked.
The revised Yahoo platform also provides price data on other digital assets including bitcoin cash and EOS, but does not yet allow direct trading of those, reported Hacked. The trading function is only available on the iOS version of Yahoo’s app, but the company says products for Android, desktop and mobile web are coming soon.
How Big Is This News?
Yahoo’s crypto moves received a mixed reception. While the mainstream media initially gave it little attention, industry experts welcomed it as a bold, positive move. Anthony Pompliano, Founder & Partner at Morgan Creek Digital, tweeted: “You can now buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin on Yahoo Finance. THE VIRUS IS SPREADING”
